Video Game Power Rankings: Q3 2025

Hey gang, it’s power ranking time again!

Although there’s slightly less news to play off of this time around, we’ve still had plenty of games released this quarter by which to judge these companies.

PlayStation keeps on chugging!

Ghost of Yotei was released to high praise and is already being thrown around in some GotY conversations. Lost Soul Aside released as a fart in the wind. But it was so quiet I don’t think it hurt Sony too badly.

To top it off we saw gameplay trailers for both Saros and Wolverine. They both looked perfect. These two games alone set Sony up for a great 2026. The present and future both look good for Sony, what more can you ask?

They’re also getting a nice flow of Xbox Studios titles releasing at this point as well.

With the price and tariff discussion mostly in the rearview mirror, Nintendo is getting into the groove with their new console.

They shipped a Pokémon game, and it actually ran well!

Just recently they surprised us with a Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, along with a 3.0 update.

Fire Emblem saw a new mainline entry announced (Hype!!) and a mobile game that sucked and everyone immediately forgot about (Lame!!)

Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 will round out a very solid year for Nintendo.

two characters, and some pokemon from pokemon legends ZA. Staru, totdile, and arbok.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill f both hit. These are two big Ws from two of gaming’s biggest franchises.

With this one-two-punch out of the way, Konami is going to have to pull out some surprises to stick this high on the list. I don’t think they’ll be able to count on Darwin’s Paradox alone in Q4. But for now, they’ve done very well for themselves.

Once Upon a KATAMARI and Digimon Story: Time Stranger (that our very own Lady Feathers was very excited about) are BN’s recent releases, both of which were met with solid reviews.

They also dropped some remakes for Pac-Man and Tales of Xillia.

Bandai Namco continues to be consistent even in between their larger releases.

Ninja Gaiden 4 was released to a positive reception.

Hyrule Warriors is just around the corner and highly anticipated.

While they might not have the year’s biggest titles, they’ve been sneaky good this year.

Mafia: The Old Country released, and it was seemingly just okay.

On the flip side, they released Borderlands 4, and it was generally well-received until they let Ol’ Randy on the internet again. His belligerence made some technical issues that could easily be fixed in a few patches into front page news.

Aside from that, the game seems successful.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds released in September and it had really great reviews! I actually saw a lot more chatter about this one than I expected to.

The also announced some new Yakuza games. I’m not sure how they are able to make so many of those.

To top it off, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance was released to much love.

Tencent and Sony are going back and forth arguing about if their Horizon knock off is legit or not.

On top of that, Tencent continues to be the the world’s largest video game company by revenue. They just hit 100 million active users outside of China.

They also set a new esports record selling out 91,000 seats for their 2025 King Pro League Grand Final in just 12 seconds. This machine ain’t slowing down any time soon.

In addition to maintaining their popular Live Service games, they released a trailer for Animal Crossi- I mean Petit Planet.

Jokes aside though this game looks cute. I certainly trust MiHoYo to make a game that is pleasant to look at and satisfying to play.

You might be wondering why this gave MiHoYo such a boost. I think the potential of a F2P Animal Crossing game with MiHoYo’s level of polish has a huge potential upside, and I’m very excited about it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 updates continue to roll out as it maintains its status as one of the best supported primarily-single-player games ever.

Just recently they released a native Steam Deck version.

Another one bites the dust. The Saudi Public Investment Fund is purchasing Electronic Arts for a WHOLE LOTTA MONEY.

Aside from the usual collection of sports games, EA released Battlefield 6, and it’s supposedly very good. Props to them for getting one out the door that people like again.

I’m counting the buyout as a negative, which is why EA isn’t higher off the release of a successful AAA.

// 12. Epic [+0]

> Fortnite good. Epic Games Store bad. They are a universal constant.

Yep.

No news is good news as CDPR keeps plugging away.

Not a lot has changed for Capcom this quarter. Everything about RE9 looks good, and the hype continues to build. They even announced it will be releasing on Switch 2. While it may not look stellar, it’s great that Nintendo’s console will be an option!

In addition to maintaining a successful Marvel Rivals, they announced Where Winds Meet just recently. NetEase is publishing this upcoming action-RPG. Additionally, they released a Destiny mobile game.

Neither has made much of a splash.

All quiet on the western front as we wait for gaming’s biggest video game to impact next year.

// 17. Xbox [+0]

Oh Xbox, you poor, poor company.

2025 has been a historic fall from grace for one of The Big Three.

Xbox continues to make bad decisions in the name of hitting Microsoft’s apparent 30% profit margin requirement. They continue to cut jobs, raise prices, and cancel projects.

While I can’t hold rumours against them too much, those are basically all bad as well. From the price of the next-generation Xbox being double that of a PlayStation, to their concept of a console/PC hybrid, it all sounds very questionable.

Xbox news is met with rolling eyes, even among long-time Xbox fans. I could go on, but this isn’t the, “dunk on Xbox,” article, so I’ll leave it there.

They’ve announced a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. Assuming they don’t fuck it up, that will probably be cool. What? They already announced it won’t have multiplayer? Oh boy.

 To their credit, they have had some decent games recently. Outer Worlds 2, Keeper, and Gears of War: Reloaded all released recently in the range of decent to good.

Despite this, I fear they’ve been overshadowed by all the gloom.

Pretty quiet over here as well as Ubisoft figures out their future. Since last time they’ve officially launched their new subsidiary called Vantage Studios which will handle their big gaming franchises.

Since the release of AC: Shadows they released

Checks notes

Just Dance 2026.

Even in the most desperate of times, you can count on Just Dance.

// 19. Embracer Group [0]

Titan Quest II from and Echoes of the End were both released by Embracer subsidiaries. They are also both games I had to look up online and had not heard of before writing this article.

Maybe one day they’ll escape the, “this is where companies come to die,” reputation.

// 20. WB Games [+0]

Not much going on here. The biggest news is that Netflix might buy WBD.

Netflix has shown interest in the gaming world, so I wonder what they might do with WB Games?
